Bobcat Skid Steer

What Jobs a Bobcat Can Actually Handle

This page covers what our Bobcat 753 is best for, what it can’t do, and how we plan the setup around access, and site conditions. If you need rates or want to book, head to our pricing page or give us a call and we’ll talk it through.

BobcatBobcat Skid Steer

Bobcat 753 Size and weight

This is a compact, stable machine that suits a lot of Sydney residential and light commercial sites.

  • Weight: 2.2 tonne
  • Width: 1.6 metres
  • Length: 3.3 metres
  • Height: just under 2 metres

If access is tight, we’ll confirm gate widths, side access and turning space before the job.

What the Bobcat is good at

If you need material shifted and loaded out on site, we use the Bobcat to keep the job moving at a steady pace and leave the area workable for the next step.

  • Loading soil, spoil, rubble and rubbish into tipper trucks, trailers or skip bins
  • Site clean-ups and shifting material around site
  • Spreading, levelling and backfilling support
  • Moving pallets and heavier items with forks
  • Towing and positioning site trailers where suitable
  • Supporting removal work by staging and loading material for off-site disposal

Attachments we use

We set the machine up for the work, not the other way around.

  • 4-in-1 bucket for grabbing, carrying, levelling and backfilling
  • Pallet forks
  • Tow hitch
  • Demolition breaker where confirmed and suitable

Limits and what changes the approach

Bobcats are tough, but there are real limits. These are the common things that affect how we run the job.

  • Tight access can limit reach, turning and load-out options
  • Wet ground and soft lawns can change what’s workable
  • Heavy, mixed material can slow handling and change disposal requirements
  • Long carry distances from pile to truck can increase time on site
  • Street parking and truck access matter for load-outs

If you’re unsure, send a photo. We’ll tell you straight what will work.

Bobcat vs manpower

For shifting and loading, a Bobcat usually beats barrows and shovels. It doesn’t get tired and it doesn’t slow down after lunch. That said, manpower still wins for tight corners, hand sorting, and detail work. On some sites we combine the two so the job stays controlled and tidy.

How we pair it with other gear

The Bobcat does a lot, but the best results come from the right combination.

With excavators

  • 1.7t excavator for tighter digs and controlled trenching and footings
  • 3.5t excavator where access allows and more reach helps

With tipper trucks, bogie setups and trailers

  • Our tipper truck for taking material off site as part of the job
  • Bogie trucks or truck and trailer setups arranged for larger volumes where access allows
  • Skip bins loaded on site, and we can arrange skip supply where a skip suits the site better

Bobcat Skid Steer FAQs

Common questions about our Bobcat skid steer and how we run the setup.

Do you offer dry hire?

No. We only supply the Bobcat with an operator.

What type of jobs is the Bobcat best for?

Loading and shifting material on site, site clean-ups, spreading and levelling, backfilling support, and staging piles ready for removal.

How wide does access need to be?

It depends on the site and what we need to do. If you send a photo and rough access width, we can tell you straight if it’s workable.

Can you load skip bins and trucks?

Yes. We regularly load skip bins, tipper trucks, bogie trucks and truck and trailer setups where access allows.

Can you take material off site as well?

Yes. We can load out and take material off site using our tipper truck or arrange larger truck setups when needed. Disposal and tip fees are separate unless quoted as a lump sum.

What attachments do you use?

We commonly use a 4-in-1 bucket, pallet forks and a tow hitch. Other attachments can be used where confirmed and suitable.

When would you use an excavator instead of the Bobcat?

If the job needs digging, reach, or more controlled trenching and footing work. We often pair the Bobcat with a 1.7t or 3.5t excavator depending on access.

Do you look at the site before starting?

Where it makes sense, yes. We prefer to check access, site conditions and street parking first so the setup is right and there are no surprises.
